Our first trip to Calabria was in the summer of 2009. We had already purchased an apartment on Lake Como and thought we’d look into the investment properties available in Southern Calabria. We had done a lot of research and read there were some great buys with tremendous growth potential in that region. We contacted Richard Hazel’s real estate management group; Windrush Alliance, and set up an appointment to view various properties in the area around Pizzo Calabro. Location and proximity to major highways, airports and train stations were key and the town of Pizzo was just the right place to start. From day one, Richard and his team were always very professional and demonstrated a strong knowledge of the real estate market in Calabria and the opportunities for economic growth.

We viewed a number of properties and decided to buy a two bedroom, two bath apartment with sea views from two balconies and every window. The location was perfect. The Marinella was only 400 meters from the sea and a short 20 minute car ride from Lamezia Airport and train station. Plenty of pizzerias, restaurants and gelaterias were in walking distance and the main center square was a short drive away.

Richard & his team helped us through the entire process from finding legal counsel to navigating the mortgage process and then to the final sale. That was no easy task since we were corresponding back and forth from our home in the USA.

The Windrush Group proved to be a truly turn-key, full service company in practise, where Windrush Alliance handled the sale-related matters, and the Apple Consulting member of the Group looked after all concerns that arose after the sale. After our purchase, Richard’s agents helped us buy all our furniture and accessories. One day Richard personally accompanied me to the mall so I could buy pillows, frames, mirrors, etc for the apartment. He even arranged to have all the furniture set up.

It also turned out that the Windrush Group also offer rental management services via Apple Consulting member; which we have been using since our purchase in 2010. They take care of internet marketing and managing the apartment rentals for us. They even manage the mail and pay our taxes and bills on time.

We have had a great experience with Richard, Paola and their team. We know our investment is always in good hands. We are not just their clients but we’ve become good friends through the years.

Jag och min man var i Kalabrien första gången 2008 och blev förälskade. Så när vi såg att dem skulle ha en utlandsmässa här i Malmö så bara var vi tvungna att gå dit. Och när vi sen såg att dem hade Kalabrien med blev vi väldigt nyfikna, men det tog oss 4 år att våga ta steget. Och tur var det för under tiden lärde vi oss mycket.

Vi tog kontakt med folk som redan köpt och fick många bra tips. Och många rekommenderade Windrush alliance Så vi åkte på en resa 2012 träffade Windrush som vi gillade mycket, fick en vecka på oss när vi kom hem att fundera på om vi ville slå till med en lägenhet på Borgonovo. Och det gjorde vi och ångrar absolut ingenting.

An account of my experiences with my purchase of an apartment via Windrush Alliance in Pizzo.

I got in touch with the company the first time when I visited Pizzo in the summer of 2016 when my brother bought an apartment in the complex Borgonovo the summer before. I had been to Calabria several times before, but it was my first trip to Pizzo. I fell in love with the small town, its surroundings and not least all the people.

I thought that the standard of the apartments in Borgonovo was high and the staff I met were professional and pleasant. At home I started thinking about buying an apartment in Pizzo and for me it was obvious for many reasons to choose Borgonovo.

The process of buying an apartment in another country over the telephone is a different experience. The broker that I talked to and negotiated with by phone was very knowledgeable, professional but also nice and down to earth. I felt that I had come into the right hands and that it was quite the right decision to let Windrush Alliance handle my first international house purchase. The purchase and transfer of the apartment to me went very smoothly. I have always been well met by all the staff and very well looked after. I got help with the renovation and interior design. Regardless of whether I email or call and whether the questions are big or small, I always get help and it always comes to an end.

I am very pleased with the other services that the company provides, such as check-in, check-out and cleaning. Having Windrush Alliance in the background when you as a resident are in Pizzo is irreplaceable. The feedback I received from many of my guests is that there are few places that have such a service and that they appreciated it enormously.

I have had many good moments in Pizzo but also some inferior ones such as when a water pipe burst into the property and my apartment became damp damaged. Although this is not part of everyday life for the employees at Windrush Alliance, they handled this whole event very professionally. I received regular updates about the conversations they had with lawyers and insurance companies. Certainly, you need a little patience, but everything was arranged and now the apartment is renovated, and you cannot see any trace of the event.

Whoever reads this may notice that one of my best decisions in my life has been my decision to buy an apartment in Pizzo, Calabria. I have a place in Italy where I can go and spend time with loved ones, eat wonderful food and just enjoy life.

Certainly, it can be a bit disorganized at times and of course things can fall between the chairs. The people are waving their arms and screaming when they talk to each other and the car driving can be a nightmare, but you have to count on that. After all, it is Calabria. That’s exactly what it should be. Intensive but with a lot of love.

Me and my wife have been the owners of an apartment in Pizzo since 2010. Throughout the process from the purchase to the acquisition of all furnishings etc. Richard and his team have helped with everything.  They have helped us in the contacts with craftsmen and appointed good shopping places.  They handle everything from cleaning to paying bills and calculating the IMU.  All contacts with Notarie and such do them too.

Even when the accident occurred and we got an acute water leak, which affected several apartments, Richard and his team helped us with all contacts with insurance companies and craftsmen to restore the apartments.
